What Does the Ariz. Immigration Verdict Mean?
U.S. District Judge Susan Bolton struck down every section the Obama administration cared about: a complete victory says CBS News chief legal correspondent Jan Crawford.
So this now puts the pressure on the federal government -- and the White House -- to take responsibility and do something to fix immigration.
But the fight in the states isn't over. Twenty states are now considering similar laws…and this is just one judge's ruling. full story

Most Americans Worry About Safety Of Food Supply
Government officials have said for years that the U.S. has the safest food supply in the world. But recent events aren't doing much to inspire confidence in that mantra.
According to a national survey conducted for NPR by Thomson Reuters and released today, 61 percent are concerned about contamination of the food supply. Most of them — 51 percent — worry most about meat.
That doesn't stop us from consuming about 63 pounds of beef per person per year, mind you. But meat safety is a big concern compared with the 25 percent of people who worry most about seafood and the 23 percent who fret most about produce. Dairy got a pretty low 4 percent response. full story

Growing outbreaks of whooping cough raise health fears
Growing outbreaks of whooping cough — including a California epidemic that has killed six babies — are worrying public health officials who fear that sporadic vaccination practices may be contributing to dangerous cases of the preventable disease.
Rising cases of the disease also known as pertussis have been reported in Idaho, Texas, South Carolina, Michigan and in California, where 1,500 children have been diagnosed in what's being called the worst outbreak in 50 years. full story
