Over the past 30 years, obesity rates among children age 2-5 have doubled, and for 6-11 year old, the number has tripled! Researchers found that kids who slept less than 10 hours a night were nearly twice as likely to move from normal weight to overweight, or from overweight to obese.
For all the parents out there: sleep is as important as diet and physical activity for your kids!
Interestingly, nap doesn't count. The quality of long-solid sleep at night is the key, period. You just can't make up for the sleep you lost by taking naps during the day.
Researchers believed when kids didn't get good sleep, they're tired to engage in day activities that may prevent obesity. Besides that, our hormones likely to change when we're not sleeping at night, resulting in more appetite or getting starvation signal (then you eat more).

以前只要睡得多,就會被長輩罵「整天睡,懶得像豬一樣」,但是最新的研究顯示,小孩如果每晚沒有睡足十小時,很可能導致他們肥胖。
晚間安穩、舒適的睡眠對小孩非常重要,如果錯失晚上睡眠,很難用日間的午睡或小休息來補回。專家表示,5歲以下的小孩每晚一定要有至少10小時睡眠。
那麼睡眠不足為何會導致肥胖?專家說可能與體內釋放的荷爾蒙有關。有些荷爾蒙會讓人在不睡著時食慾大開,有些則讓人持續有餓的感覺,因此會不停的吃東西。當然,晚上沒睡好,隔天精神就差一點,也會影響我們進行一些活動筋骨的運動,造成有人超重、甚至肥胖。
所以說,想要控制你的重體,先去安排好晚間的睡眠吧!
