It's a gorgeous day!
I set my cell phone alarm to 6AM, 6.05AM and 6.10AM, yet I didn't get up until 7AM! I was debating if I was gonna ride, or I should just stay in bed. I was really sleepy. Most of the time the evil wins the battle, but not today.
The
Different Spoke group ride meet at the Arcadia Park at 8AM. It's 9 miles from my place. I had decided I would ride to the meeting place from home, get more miles on the bike and save 18 miles of gasoline. By the time I hit the road, it was 7.30AM, it was a freezing 65'F outdoor. I knew I was gonna miss the group. I paddled as fast as I could, and luckily there were not many cars this time of the day, when most people are still sleeping.
Finally, I got there at 8.08AM. They have not took off. I had a chance to catch up with some old friends and meet the some new one.
This 35-mile ride brought us from Arcadia all the way east to San Dimas/Glendora area, travel through Monrovia, Duarte, Bradbury. It was mostly flat with rolling hills. So I knew I would be ok.
We stopped at the Classic Cafe in Glendora to refill the bottles, get something to eat before continuing on the road. We made it to the Tamale Place -
Enrique's quarter to noon. I was starving!!
The food was pretty good. I ordered a combo plate of chicken tamale and enchilada, served wit beans and rice. After lunch we head back to Arcadia Park, which is only 2+ miles from Enrique's. For me there was another 9 miles to get home! By then the temperature got up to upper 80s, it was really hot and I'm glad I made it home safe, in one piece.
