Friend or Unfriend?

One way or the other, our life has changed since the Facebook-era, we reconnect with long time old friends, we meet/make new friends via friends and friends of friends, we share pictures, videos, messages, the last thing we do before closing our eyes every night is checking Facebook updates, the first thing we do as soon as we open our eyes every morning is checking Facebook updates... soon, you realize you're addicted to Facebook and you have hundred or thousands of friends on Facebook.

Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel self-declared Nov. 17th as "National Facebook Unfriend Day." According to Kimmel "Friendship is a sacred thing, and I believe Facebook is cheapening it...you can't have a thousand friends."  Kimmel suggests that you go through your Facebook and do somewhat of a ‘spring cleaning,’ getting rid of anyone that is not a true friend.

According to Robin Dunbar, a professor of anthropology at Oxford University, “our brains can’t keep up with more than 150 friends anyhow.”

To date, I've 341 friends on my list. I went through each of them, and I'm happy to say I know each and everyone of them. It seems like impolite to reject any friend request, but I've been careful on that, I don't add people that I don't know well.

It's a social media anyway, regardless you have 10 or 10,000 friends, it's all about your choice and decision. While no one can tell you what to do with your friends, don't blame on Facebook privacy policies either, if you are not happy, just discontinue your account. Sit back and relax in your living room and enjoy good movies or books, instead of sitting in front of your computer.
