How was your Christmas holiday? How was the gift exchanging in particular? I hope you get what your like, or not. Well, if you're planning to return some of the items, you're not alone. It was reported nearly 20% of Americans return at least one gift and the total value of return gifts is estimated about $43.82 billion, a $1 billion up from last year!

If you haven't hit the store to return your items, here are some advices from the expert:

1. be careful with electronic items, do not open the packaging.
2. make sure you've the receipt or gift receipt.
3. check if you can return items you bought online to its local retail stores.
4. if return envelope is provided, doesn't mean it's free, they might deduct the shipping fee from your return items' fee.
5. be prepared if merchants asked for your ID when you return items.
