Tour de Libraries

Seattle Public Library
Whenever I visit a city, I like to visit the museums and public libraries. Library is not only a place for the locals to borrow books and other reading/entertainment materials, it is also a place for free computer access (especially for visitors who don't carry along their laptop and not willing to pay for expensive internet access at the hotel). Besides that, the library building itself tells the story of the city and its people.

Next Monday marks the start of National Library Week, while many local libraries are fighting to survive under government's budget cut, it's another reason to show up at your library and show your support. An USA Today article suggested 10 libraries in the country to take a library tour:

  1. New York Public Library - Stephen A. Schwarzman Building, New York
  2. Fayetteville Public Library, Arkansas
  3. Seattle Central Library, Washington
  4. Geisel Library UC San Diego, California
  5. Library of Congress - Thomas Jefferson Building, Washington DC
  6. Weippe Public Library, Idaho
  7. Chicago Public Library, Illinois
  8. Boston Athenaeum, Massachusetts
  9. Deadwood Public Library, South Dakota
  10. Central Denver Public Library, Colorado
Other cool libraries that I've visited:
Vancouver Public Library
British Library, London
