1 in 5 U.S. teens has hearing loss

I was one of the kids grew up listening to walkman, that's right, the little thing that played cassettes! I remembered I got one when I was 12. During my secondary school era, CDs became more popular, and a CD player was such a luxury. Now, everyone is talking about the iPod.

These portable devices might be our best friends for music, audio book or podcast programs, but it can be harmful when not use in the right way. Every where you go, you'll see people plug in the headset, especially among teenagers, that's one of the cool things they do.

A new national study released Wednesday found nearly one in five teens have lost a little bit of their hearing! More importantly, the problem has increased substantially in recent years.

So, some of the questions you might have are: how loud is too loud? should you limit the time you spend listening through headset? what about tv and movie theater, are those sound effects playing too loud? It's definitely something you need to look into, especially if you have a young kids who rely on these electronic devices every day! full story
