Angelenos Give me 3

It was a beautiful morning and I went to for a ride around the San Gabriel Valley. This mostly flat with a few nice inclines route was 30.5 miles.

When I was riding down on Huntington Drive in San Marino, this lady pull out from her parking space without checking her rear view mirror! Well, luckily she wasn't that fast and neither was I. I had to wave my hand a few times to get her attention but she didn't seem notice my existence. I had to move into traffic and loop around her car (luckily Huntington Drive is a 3-lane wide road and there was no car passing by at that time). I turned back and waved my hand again, only then she realized she almost hit a cyclist! This is just another example of irresponsible driver!

So please, when you're riding, be careful of reckless drivers! And when you're driving, please watch out for cyclists!!

Speaking of bike safety, I'm really glad to learn that the mayor of LA unveiled the bike awareness and safety campaign "Give Me 3" last month. These posters are now visible in 150-200 bus shelters and public amenity kiosks throughout the city. About 800-850 will be installed by the end of the year.

According to LACBC, The Mayor also announced that he would like to “make the 3 Foot Passing Rule a 3 Foot Passing Law” in California. He will be introducing the bill, going to Sacramento and working with the bicycling community to ensure that this becomes a reality. “We’ll keep at it until it becomes part of the California Vehicle Code.”

Anyway, back to my 30-mile ride around the SGV. Here are some pictures I took along the route:
