Debit Card vs. Credit Card - the pros and cons

Credit or Debit? Think carefully.
Almost everyone has at least one debit card and one credit card, if you're traveling do you know when to use which card? Here are some tips from the expert according to AOL article:

When to use credit card:
  1. stolen or cloned - when your credit card is stolen, you're only liable for a maximum of $50. In contrast, you're liable for $500 if you find and report the fraud within 2 business days! If you didn't realize the fraudulent activity until after 60 days, sorry, you're responsible for everything!
  2. fraud - with debit or ATM card, the bad guy can get access to your bank account, what if you have multiple accounts link together? In this case, credit card is a lot safer.
  3. big purchase & shipping home - credit card offers coverage for damages or lost items, but you need to contact your credit card before hand.
When to use debit card:
  1. you don't have credit card - when you use your debit card, ask to sign for all purchases instead of swiping and using the pin number to authorize the charge.
  2. on tight budget - spend what you have, not adding debt.
  3. don't want to hold cash - you can get cash from foreign ATMs, sometime the currency exchange rates are better.
