I flew with Cathay Pacific this time, and online check in is available 48 hours prior to my departure. I was hesitated to try it at the first place, not knowing how it would help, exactly.
I remembered my previous two trips to Malaysia - the one in 2008, I flew with Malaysia Airlines. As usual, I arrived at the airport a little over 2 hours prior to my departure time. There was no line at the check in counter, not even one passenger standing there, I thought I missed my flight!
And the trip in 2009 was a nightmare at the check in counter. I flew with Eva Airlines this time. They had 2 flights leaving within 1 hour, so you could imagine over 600 passengers standing in line! I was there for almost 2 hours!! Finally checked in 30 minutes before my flight, then had to ran to the security check point and even worst, ran to my gate which was located like 10 miles away!
This time, when I arrived at the Cathay counter, there were at least 30 people in line, but I was the only online check in passenger. I had 2 luggage and the whole check in process was done within 5 minutes! How easy was that?! I had extra time to shop at duty free shop (for my sister-in-law).
If you have the option, do yourself a favor, use the online check in service!
