Antioxidants in your tea

Bottled tea beverages apparently contain very little antioxidants. If you really want some antioxidants, it's better to brew your own.

We all look for healthy food, and we hope that it comes in handy. However researchers found that bottled tea beverages contain less antioxidants than what's printed on the package labels. Out of the 49 samples tested, only half contain less than 10 mg of polyphenols (antioxidants), in contrast, your home-brewed green or black tea has about 50-150 mg of polyphenols. In another word, to get the same amount of antioxidants, you'll have to drink 5-20 bottles of tea! I know, it doesn't sounds right to me either!

So next time when you drink a bottled tea beverage, don't expect to get any health benefit, because all it does is only cure your thirst, that's all. full story

很多人都愛喝茶,更因為茶葉含有抗氧化素,養成了天天喝茶的習慣。然而不是每個人都有自己泡茶的閒情,廠商更是看準現代消費者貪「方便、快速」,推出琳瑯滿目的包裝茶飲料,甚至標示出所含的「富豐抗氧化素」。

然而研究員發現,在49種被化驗的樣品中,只有一半含有約10毫克的抗氧化素,相對的,如果是自己泡的茶葉,所含的抗氧化素達50-150毫克。也就是說,如果你真的想要得到相等的抗氧化素,可能要喝上5-20瓶包裝茶飲料了!

因此,除了解渴之外,不要指望你的包裝茶飲料對你的健康有什麼好作用;如果真想要攝取茶葉的抗氧化素,還是乖乖去泡茶吧。
